Subject: [PoliceSubstationWard5] Excellent Community Meeting Tonight!

Tonight, I was a part of something very powerful.

I witnessed residents and government officials, from a section of the Fifth District, come together and roll up their sleeves to work towards reclaiming their neighborhood by strategizing their attack of quality-of-life issues in the area.   They are off to a great start, and I cannot wait to document their successes!

Their next meeting will continue at their monthly community-police PSA 501 Meeting 2/17/05.  I would like to encourage ALL of you to maintain the momentum by attending your monthly Police Service Area (PSA) Meetings.  Get to know the boundaries of your PSA.  Find out who your lieutenants are, and stay in contact with them.

The Truxton Circle webmaster has been generous enough to provide our police materials online, which includes photos of your police officials.  To find that information, visit:    http://www.truxtoncircle.org/doclib/5thDistrictPSAs.pdf

      Subject: [MPD-5D] Revised Community Handout

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM YVONNE SMITH, FIFTH DISTRICT POLICE, WASHINGTON, DC

I am sending this email (see attached document .pdf format) to all of the local "Ward 5/Fifth District" Community Yahoo Discussion (LIstserv) Groups in this area that I have on file.  If you know of any others, please let me know.  This is a revised list of Ward 5 Neighborhood Resource Contacts.

I am still encouraging residents to join the police-community listserv, because there will be important dialogue on this site that you will not see, if you don't belong to the police-community online Yahoo Discussion Group.  Presently, we only have 86 members, which is really low, compared to similar police-community online groups in the city.  Please help us increase enrollment.

Residents can join by sending a blank email message to: MPD-5D-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

      OR

Thank You.  (SEE ATTACHMENT, REVISED TODAY, FEB 2, 2005- CHANGES MADE SINCE JAN. 2005)
