      Armed Robbery Arrests: Metropolitan Branch Trail near R Street, Northeast
       
      (Washington, DC) – The Metropolitan Police Department announced that two arrests have been made in connection to an Armed Robbery (gun), which occurred on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at approximately 3:15 pm, on the Metropolitan Branch Trail near R Street, Northeast.
       
      On Wednesday, August 27, 2014, members of the Fifth District arrested 22 year-old De’Andre Coxof Northeast, Washington, DC, charging him with Armed Robbery (gun) and 22 year-old David Lamont Green of Suitland, Maryland, charging him with Armed Robbery (gun) and Carrying a pistol.

        MPD acted swiftly and effectively to catch these guys, and they are to be congratulated.

        Unfortunately, your post gives the impression that the crime started the trail.  It did not.  The victim was in fact followed a couple of blocks from residential Eckington to the trail before guns were drawn.  That fact does not make the crime less serious, it only means that regular trail users need not worry that gunmen -- or at least these guys -- were just hanging around on the trail waiting to prey on someone.

        In any case, it is great to read you saying something nice about MPD.
