      Arrest Made in Armed Robberies of Two Establishments

       

      (Washington, DC)- The Metropolitan Police Department Fifth District Detective’s Office has announced that an arrest has been made in two robberies of establishments that occurred on March 30, 2014 and April 29, 2014.

       

      On Sunday, March 30, 2014, at approximately 12:26 am, officers from the Fifth District responded to a call for an armed robbery at a hotel in the 1600 block of New York Avenue, Northeast. Upon their arrival, an employee indicated that an adult male had entered the establishment, brandished a weapon and demanded cash.  The employee complied with the demands and the suspect obtained US currency before fleeing the location.

       

      On Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at approximately 2:11 am, officers from the Fifth District responded to a call for an armed robbery at a restaurant located in the unit block of Florida Ave, Northeast.  Upon their arrival, an employee indicated that an adult male approached him, brandished a weapon and demanded cash.  The employee complied with the demands and the suspect obtained US currency before fleeing the location.

       

      On Wednesday, June 4, 2014, Fifth District detectives arrested 33-year old Keith Austin of no fixed address, and charged him with the Armed Robbery of two establishments.
