      MPD Announces Arrests in Recent Robberies

       

      (Washington, DC)- Due to community concerns regarding robberies, the Metropolitan Police Department is releasing information on recent robbery arrests. Members of the public have been helpful in providing information that has led to arrests and MPD encourages members of the public to visit our YouTube page, view videos of cases, and contact police if they recognize persons of interest at: http://www.youtube.com/OfficialDCPolice

       

      Listed below are other recent robbery arrests made within the last week.

       

      First District

       

      ·       Saturday, May 17, 2014, at approximately 11:19 pm, a complainant was in the area of 2nd and H Streets, NW, when he was approached by two suspects who produced a handgun, assaulted him, and took his property.  An adult male was arrested for Robbery While Armed and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. There is a lookout for a second suspect described as a black male.

       

       Fifth District

       

      ·         Monday, May 19, 2014, at approximately 6:26 pm, a complainant was in the 2200 block of 4th Street, NE, when he was approached by two suspects who assaulted him and attempted to take his property. Two juvenile males were arrested for Assault with Intent to Commit Robbery.

       

      Sixth District

       

      ·         Friday, May 16, 2014, at approximately 10:00 am, a complainant was in the 200 block of 37th Place, SE, when he was approached by five suspects who produced a handgun and took his property. An adult male was arrested for Robbery While Armed. There is a lookout for four additional suspects.  The first suspect is described as a black male, 210-230 pounds, dark complexion, wearing a black and green shirt. The second suspect is described as a black male, 110 to 125 pounds, 5’0” to 5’2”, approximately 17 years old. The third suspect is described as a black female, 20 to 25 years old, and 5’4” to 5’7” in height. The fourth suspect is described as a black male.

       

      Seventh District

       

      ·         Saturday, May 17, 2014, at approximately 5:45 pm, a complainant was in the 2400 block of Alabama Avenue, SE, when she was approached by two suspects who snatched her phone and fled. A juvenile male was arrested for Robbery Snatch. There is a lookout for a second suspect described as a juvenile black male.

       

      ·         Saturday, May 17, 2014, at approximately 12:30 pm, a complainant was in the 3900 block of 8th Street, SE, when he was approached by a suspect who assaulted him and took his property. An adult male was arrested for Robbery Force and Violence.

       

       

      Anyone who is the victim of a crime or witnesses a crime in progress should call 911 immediately. Individuals who have information regarding crimes should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any robbery committed in the District of Columbia.
