      Traffic Fatality: John Phillip Sousa Bridge, Southeast

       

      (Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Unit are investigating a traffic fatality which occurred on the John Phillip Sousa Bridge, Southeast.

       

      On Friday, February 14, 2014 at approximately 5:45 am, a 2006 Chevrolet truck was traveling westbound when it struck a pedestrian walking in the right lane of the roadway.  The driver of the truck remained on the scene. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Monday, February 17, 2014.

       

      The decedent has been identified as 61 year-old Joseph Brown, of Southeast, DC.

       

      This crash is currently under investigation.

       

      The Metropolitan Police Department is asking anyone with information about this case to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.

       

      Look out for the homeless this winter. When the actual or forecasted temperature or wind chill is 32 degrees F or below, the District issues a Hypothermia Alert.
