      MPD Announces Arrests in Recent Robberies

       

      (Washington, DC)- Due to community concerns regarding robberies, the Metropolitan Police Department is releasing information on recent robbery arrests. Members of the public have been helpful in providing information that has led to arrests and MPD encourages members of the public to visit our YouTube page, view videos of cases, and contact police if they recognize persons of interest at http://www.youtube.com/OfficialDCPolice

       

      Listed below are recent robbery arrests made within the last week.

       

      First District

       

      Monday, December 16, 2013 at approximately 5:35 pm, a complainant reports that while in the 100 block of 17th Street, NE, he was approached by seven males who demanded his property.  The complainant refused and was assaulted.  A juvenile male was arrested for Assault with intent to Rob.

       

      Thursday, December 19, 2013, at approximately 8:01 pm, two complainants reported that while in the 700 block of 7th Street, NE, two suspects approached them, brandished a knife and assaulted one of the complainants. Taken was an iPhone. Two adult males were arrested for Robbery while Armed.

       

      Fourth District

       

      Friday, December 20, 2013, at approximately 1:54 am, a complainant reports that while in the 3500 block of 14th Street NW, two suspects assaulted him and took his credit cards. An adult male and an adult female were arrested for Robbery Force and Violence.

       

      Fifth District

       

      Monday, December 16, 2013, at approximately 9:50 pm, a complainant reports that while in the 3000 block of 16th Street, NE, he was approached by two male suspects armed with handguns, who announced a robbery. Taken were two cell phones and US currency. An adult male and a juvenile were arrested for Robbery while Armed.

       

      Monday, December 16, 2013, at approximately 9:55 pm, a complainant reports that while in the 1200 block of Mount Olivet Road, NE, she was approached by a male suspect who produced a knife, took the complainant’s purse and fled. An adult male was arrested for Robbery Hold Up Knife.

       

      Seventh District

       

      Monday, December 16, 2013, at approximately 1:52 am, a complainant reports that while in the 4000 block of 1st Street, SE, he was approached by two male suspects, one of whom produced a handgun.  Taken was a watch and US currency.  Two adult males were arrested for Robbery while Armed.

       

      Anyone who is the victim of a crime or witnesses a crime in progress should call 911 immediately. Individuals who have information regarding crimes should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any robbery committed in the District of Columbia.

       

      Look out for those in need this winter. When the temperature or wind chill is 32°F or below, the District issues a Hypothermia Alert. For assistance during an Alert, call the Shelter Hotline at 1-800-535-7252 or 311.

        Once again, the proof is in the puddin!!  Without community input and assistance closure of lawless cases cannot be as successful.

        Immediate information given, whether it is anonymous or not continual proves, it helps bring the perpetrators, alleged, to answer for crimes they may lead to convictions.

        People; you are valuable in assisting the police in apprehending violators of the law; don't stop reporting.  You are helping yourself, love ones, friends and neighbors enjoy the streets in the District safely when you report.
