Subject: [MPD-5D] MPD 5th District - top notch
Just wanted to drop a thank you note to 5th District and their ability to assist with crowd control at an event today.
OCASE Foundation had their yearly school supply giveaway at Rita's Water Ice on Rhode Island Ave NE today which is located in Ward 5.
Last year the organization held it in Ward 5 for Ward 5 residents. This year, it was opened for the entire city.
When I arrived at 1:30pm scores of people were lined up as well as in the street. However, MPD was there to corral the people quietly without any disturbance. It was wonderful to see how MPD was there on the scene, our Asst. Chief of Police, Dianne Groomes was even able to help out in the food line.
Groomes was even called to the stage and asked to address the residents; and she did warmly and positively.
Thanks Team!! You are wonderful
