Arrest Made in Defacing Property at the National Cathedral
(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Second District announced a suspect has been arrested in connection with defacing property at the National Cathedral in the 3100 block of Wisconsin Avenue NW.
On Monday, July 29, 2013 at approximately 4:30 p.m. members from the Second District responded to the 3100 block of Wisconsin Ave. NW for a report of destruction of property.
Detectives discovered splattered paint on a mural in an area of the Cathedral and paint splattered on walls and an organ in another area of the Cathedral. Security at the National Cathedral had detained a person of interest on the scene.
Metropolitan Police arrested 58-year-old Tian Jiamel, of no fixed address. She has been charged with Defacing Property.
The Metropolitan Police Department is working closely with members of the US Park Police. Detectives are investigating whether the suspect may have been involved in similar offenses.
