Arrests in the 1700 Block of Eye Street, NW in Washington D.C.

(Washington, DC) – The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that demonstrators were arrested today in connection with a demonstration regarding the XL Keystone Pipeline.

On Friday, July 26, 2013, at approximately 12:00 pm, a group of demonstrators marched from Farragut Square Park down to the 1700 block of Eye Street, NW.  Several of the demonstrators rushed into the lobby of a building in the area. The group was advised by management of the building numerous times that they were there illegally and were instructed to leave.  Members of the Metropolitan Police Department also directed the demonstrators to leave or they would be arrested. After refusing to adhere to directives from police, MPD arrested 55 demonstrators for unlawful entry.
