      Good Afternnon All,



      DC Mayor Adrian M. Fenty and Acting Chief Cathy L. Lanier welcomed the
      first recruit class to graduate from the Metropolitan Police Department
      in 2007. The ceremony took place today at the Maurice T. Turner, Jr.
      Institute of Police Science in Southwest DC. Lanier praised the new
      officers for their successful completion of approximately six months of
      academic, physical and tactical training at the training academy. The
      fourteen new officers will be assigned to neighborhood patrols in Police
      Service Areas (PSAs) throughout the District.
