Weeknight Lane / Sidewalk Closures Possible on Howard Road, SE On May 1-3 and May 6-8, 2013
No Closures Allowed Until 90 Minutes After the End of Washington Nationals’ Night Games
(Washington, D.C.) The District of Department of Transportation (DDOT) may close the right lane and sidewalk of eastbound Howard Road, SE between Firth Sterling Avenue and South Capitol Street on weeknights from Wednesday, May 1 through Friday, May 3, 2013 and from Monday, May 6 through Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Based on the end of night baseball games and good weather, work will begin as early as 9:00 p.m. and conclude as late as 5:00 a.m. the following morning. The closures are necessary to enable inspection work for the preliminary design of the South Capitol Street Corridor Project.
No lane closures for this work will be allowed until 90 minutes after the end of any Washington Nationals’ night baseball game (games are scheduled May 7 and 8, 2013).
Throughout the work, both Howard Road, SE interchanges will remain fully open to traffic. Advance signs and other traffic control devices will be used to alert motorists to the closures. To keep everyone safe, motorists should stay alert and obey posted speed limits when traveling through the area.
The sidewalks will be closed during working hours and detours shall be provided to enable pedestrian movements. Sidewalks shall remain open outside of working hours.
