      MPD Announces Arrests in Recent Robberies

       

      (Washington, DC)- Due to community concerns regarding robberies, the Metropolitan Police Department is releasing information on recent robbery arrests. Members of the public have been helpful in providing information that has led to arrests and MPD encourages members of the public to visit our YouTube page, view videos of cases, and contact police if they recognize persons of interest at http://www.youtube.com/OfficialDCPolice

       

      Below are recent robbery arrests made within the last week

       

       

      Second District

       

      §  Friday, March 22, 2013, at approximately 1:25 pm, a complainant reports while walking in the 4500 block of Wisconsin Avenue, NW, he was approached by three suspects who grabbed him from behind and announced a robbery while displaying a black handgun. One of the suspects searched the complainant’s pockets and took his iPhone. All three suspects fled in an unknown direction. One male juvenile was arrested and charged with Robbery While Armed (Gun)

       

      Third District

       

      §  Sunday, March 24, 2013, at approximately 2:05 am, a complainant reports while walking in the 2400 block of 18th Street, NW, her purse containing various items was taken forcibly from her shoulder. An adult female was arrested and charged with Robbery (Force and Violence)

       

      Sixth District

       

      §  Saturday, March 23, 2013, at approximately 2:04 am, a complainant reports while in the rear of the 600 block of Eastern Avenue, NE, the complainant became involved in a verbal altercation with the suspect who began to hit the complainant and took U.S. currency from the complainant’s pocket and fled the scene.  An adult male was arrested and charged with Robbery (Force and Violence)

       

      §  Sunday, March 24, 2013, at approximately 5:33 pm, a complainant reports while walking with his bike in the 1800 block of Q Street, SE, he was approached by a male who pushed him down the steps and took his bike.  An adult male was arrested and charged with Robbery (Force and Violence)

       

      Seventh District

       

      §  Friday, March 22, 2013, at approximately 7:12 pm, a complainant reports while walking in the 2800 block of Hartford Street, SE, he was approached by three male suspects. The suspects engaged the complainant in conversation, punched him and took his wallet, Metro card and cell phone. Three male juveniles were arrested and charged with Robbery (Force and Violence)

       

      Anyone who is the victim of a crime or witnesses a crime in progress should call 911 immediately. Individuals who have information regarding crimes should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any robbery committed in the District of Columbia.

        (Washington, DC)- Due to community concerns regarding robberies, the Metropolitan Police Department is releasing information on recent robbery arrests.         Listed below are recent robbery arrests made within the last week.

         

        First District

         

        • Saturday, March 1, 2014, at approximately 11:25 pm, two complainants reported that a subject approached them and demanded their cell phones.  When the complainants refused, the subject assaulted one of them before fleeing without any property.  An adult male was arrested for Assault with the Intent to Rob

         

        • Sunday, March 2, 2014, at approximately 7:30 pm, a complainant reported that while in the area of 9th and F Streets, NW, she was approached by three suspects that assaulted her and took her phone. An adult female and two juvenile females were arrested for Robbery.

         

         

        Third District

         

        • Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at approximately 11:20 pm, a complainant reported that while in the 2300 block of 11 Street, NW, he was approached by a suspect who assaulted him and took his property. An adult female was arrested for Robbery (Force and Violence).

         

        • Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at approximately 11:26 pm, a complainant reported that while in the 2200 block of 11 Street, NW, he was approached by a suspect who announced a robbery and demanded his property. The suspect did not obtain any property. An adult female was arrested for Assault with Intent to Rob.

         

         

        Fifth District

         

        • Sunday, March 2, 2014, at approximately 8:40 pm, a complainant reported that while in the 1500 block of Gales Street, NE, she had engaged in a verbal dispute with the suspect who assaulted her and took her property.  An adult male was arrested for Robbery (Force and Violence).

         

        Sixth District

         

        • Saturday, March 1, 2014, at approximately 12:30 am, a complainant reported that while in the area of Anacostia Avenue and Benning Road, NE, he was approached by a suspect who brandished a handgun and demanded his property.  An adult male was arrested for Robbery (Gun).

         

        • Saturday, March 1, 2014, at approximately 2:40 pm, a complainant reported that while in the 4400 block of C Street, SE, he was approached by a suspect who brandished a handgun and demanded his property. The suspect then fled in a vehicle with a second suspect. Two adult males were arrested for Robbery (Gun).

         

         

        Anyone who is the victim of a crime or witnesses a crime in progress should call 911 immediately. Individuals who have information regarding crimes should call police at 202-727-9099.           Listed below are other recent robbery arrests made within the last week.

           

          First District

           

          ·       Friday, April 18, 2014, at approximately 9:30 pm, two complainants reported that while in the 1400 block of Canal Street, SW, they were approached by three suspects, who assaulted them and attempted to take one complainant’s property.  A juvenile female was arrested for Assault with Intent to Commit Robbery. There is an active lookout for two additional suspects described as black males, 15-20 years of age, 5’6” – 5’8” in height, with black hair.

           

          Fourth District

           

          ·       Saturday, April 19, 2014, at approximately 1:25 am, a complainant reported that while in the 5200 block of Georgia Avenue, NW, he was approached by a suspect who brandished a knife, assaulted him while attempting to take his property. An adult male was arrested for Assault with Intent to Commit Robbery.

           

          ·         Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at approximately 11:04 pm, a complainant was in the 4900 block of Georgia Avenue, NW, when he was approached by two suspects who brandished a handgun and demanded his property. One adult male was arrested for Robbery While Armed. There is an active lookout for a second suspect described as a black male, 5’8” – 5’9” in height, 170 pounds, dark complexion, wearing a black shirt and pants.  

            

          Anyone who is the victim of a crime or witnesses a crime in progress should call 911 immediately. Individuals who have information regarding crimes should call police at 202-727-9099.             ·       Sunday, April 27, 2014, at approximately 3:40 pm, a complainant was walking in the 100 block of Massachusetts Avenue, NW, when he approached by several suspects who assaulted him and took his property.  Two juvenile males were arrested for Robbery Force and Violence.

             

            ·         Monday, April 28, 2014, at approximately 3:00 am, a complainant was in the area of 7th and H Streets, NW, when a suspect approached the complainant and removed several items from his pockets. An adult male was arrested for Robbery Snatch.

             

             

            Fifth District

             

            ·       Sunday, April 27, 2014, at approximately 5:00 pm, a complainant reported that while in the 1200 block of Simms Place, NE, he was engaged in an altercation with two suspects when they began assaulting him along with two additional suspects. The four suspects took the complainant’s property and fled. Two adult males were arrested for Robbery Force and Violence.

            ·       Saturday, April 26, 2014, at approximately 2:58 pm, a complainant reported that while in the 2500 block of Pomeroy Road, SE, he was approached by a suspect who brandished a handgun and demanded the complainant’s property. An adult male was arrested for Robbery While Armed.
