The complainant flagged down the sergeant and reported what just occurred, directing Sergeant Bedlion towards the intersection of North Capital Street and New York Avenue, NW. A look out was broadcast.
At approximately 1015 hours, the suspect was observed inside a business in the 1400 block of North Capital Street, NW and he was stopped. Fifth District Detectives were summoned to the scene and the suspect was positively identified and placed under arrest.
The suspect was charged with Attempt Robbery and was transported to the Fifth District Detectives Office for processing and interviewing.
Actions such as these exhibited again by Sergeant Duncan Bedlion are the reason the Metropolitan Police Department named him Sergeant of the Year in 2012. Duncan leads from the front, sets an example of a pro-active, informed and devoted member of the Fifth Police District and takes crime personally. Another job well done by Sergeant Bedlion and those members of 5D Day Watch and the Fifth District Detectives Unit that came to assist and support the successful closure of this Robbery case.
