RE: [MPD-4D] Re: [MPD-5D] Daily Crime Reports
Keith, as I have stated many times- we consolidated all of our records, which resided in numerous data bases, to one records management system. This process takes time and it has been down since September of 2012- happily, as I stated today, we are almost ready to turn Crime Mapping back on.
As far as your question about previous downtime- as you are aware there is always unexpected problems with technology- and the need to refresh and update. We do our best to keep our residents informed.
Can you speak to the specifics as to why Crime Maps continues to be inoperable?
Why is that we have had this issue several times over the last few years with reports not posting?
Can't these be done manually when the auto mode fails?
Crime maps was out in April 2010 and August 2010 for extensive periods. Additionally it was down last year for well over 2 months.

Good morning, I wanted to apologize for the recent issues related to the daily posting of the crime report to each of the District listserves. Due to a technical issue, the report was not posting to the listserves this past week. I know this is an important resource for many of you, and I apologize for the inconvenience. I assure you that we are addressing the problem and the 24-hour crime report will be back up on the listserves this week. The arrest reports for each District will be back online as soon as possible. Please note that the year-to-date citywide crime data is available Monday through Friday on our website, www.mpdc.dc.gov. Additionally, the Crime Mapping application should be back up and running for your use near the end of this week. Thank you,
