Re: [MPD-5D] Outstanding Performance by MPD Officers in 5D
- This is the incident I saw on Saturday afternoon. I applaud both officers and all of their colleagues for the swift action, underscoring excellent police work. The crime challenges we are facing as a community are daunting. We want to make sure that we have enough officers to back each other up, while serving and protecting our communities. We always appreciate valiant police work; thank you.Commissioner Kathy Henderson, 5D05-----Original Message-----

Subject: [MPD-5D] Outstanding Performance by MPD Officers in 5DOfficer Nicholls and Officer Spradling were working the evening tour of duty when they received a stolen vehicle hit on their Mobile Data Terminal in the vehicle. The officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle then fled, but instead of giving chase the officer deactivated their emergency equipment and noted the last direction of travel and searched for the vehicle. The officers then located the vehicle again in a parking lot with two individuals in the car. When they saw the officers they attempted to flee on foot and the officer gave chase. One suspect was captured as he entered a postal facility and the other was captured attempting to gain access to the Rhode Island Avenue Metro.
Officers Nicholls and Officer Spadling placed several charges against the suspects for unauthorized use of a vehicle, Bench Warrant, Possession of Marijuana, a weapon was also recovered. Thanks to the dedicated work of these officers two law offenders were taken off the street, a stolen car and a weapon were recovered. Great Job Officer Nicholls and Officer Spradling your service to the community is appreciated.
