(Washington, DC)-Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Unit are investigating a pedestrian fatality resulting from a traffic collision, which occurred in the 3000 block of 20th Street, NE.

On Tuesday, December 18, 2012, units from the Fifth District responded to a pedestrian traffic collision with injury which occurred at approximately 11:05 pm in the 3000 block of 20th Street, NE. Preliminary investigation has revealed that a black Dodge Charger four door sedan with dark tinted windows displaying unknown tags was traveling at a high rate of speed in the 3000 block of 20th Street N.E.  The vehicle came to an abrupt stop at the corner of 20th Street and Rhode Island Avenue, N.E where a female passenger exited the vehicle.  The vehicle then sped off again southbound at a high rate of speed.  A moment later, the vehicle struck a pedestrian as he walked in the roadway.  After colliding with the pedestrian, the Dodge Charger stopped and backed up to where the female passenger was and the female got back into the vehicle.
