We'll ensure site staff secure adjacent fields and rangers will assist.

      Thank you.

      Director Aguirre,

Can we get some help in keeping the gates to the area rec centers closed and locked?

If 5D can help in any way, please let me know.

      Andy Solberg

      Commander, 5D

I just called 911 to report this tonight, but people have been lighting fireworks in the field north of the Harry Thomas Rec Center for the past three nights around 9 - 10 p.m. While the illegal fireworks are one issue, the fact that the rec center field gates are always open, when they are supposed to be locked at night, is a longer term issue that's been addressed before but never resolved.

Just this evening around 7:00 there were about six police vehicles - some unmarked - on Lincoln near the unlocked gate and officers were making arrests of juveniles for something. Obviously it's a problem area that only gets worse when the sun goes down and the gates remain unlocked.
