RE: Robbery and Assault on May 17, burned out streetlight
Good afternoon all!
It is the job of the Department of Transportation to repair the streetlights. Even though it is not the job of the residents to report when a light is out, but it would help us (DDOT) address the issue quicker if you do call (202) 727-1000 to report the problem.
We the city do not want anyone else life put in danger and we will work quickly to have the lights back on as quickly as possible. Please send this office the complaint number that was issued to you when you reported the lights out, and we will contact the Ward 5 lighting team.

Subject: Robbery and Assault on May 17, burned out streetlight
This may not be MPD's responsibility. but it is a safety issue. Actually, maybe it should be MPD's job (if they already haven't been doing so), as well as DPW and citizens, to report downed streetlights. I try not to go out late too often so I don't often get to see which light are working or not.
It seems that some departments of DPW are having issues and I don't want to risk someone else being mugged because of poor lighting. I already reported this online (dc.gov) but I will do it here as well because without some public pressure, who knows how long DPW will take.
the light on the North side of N Street NW just a dozen or so yards west of First Street (on the Armstrong Compound/School side) is out. Please fix quick.
