      Greetings,

Yes, a big thank you to MPD is in order; coming in this AM I saw MPD vehicles guarding fallen power lines and controlling intersections  without traffic signals along Blair Road, NW.

This was a good integration of information and resources.

      Best regards,

      Subject: [MPD-5D] Thank you, MPD!

I've had a lot of complaints and criticisms of MPD policy of late, but a special note of appreciation is also called for, now.

Through an extraordinary, historic week of natural disaster challenges for the District of Columbia, to Police Chief Cathy Lanier, the Chief's communications team, to MPD's Assistant Chiefs for patrols and homeland security, to MPD's District Commanders, MPD's SLU and other unit commands -- and especially to the officers and civilian men and women throughout the Metropolitan Police Department, THANK YOU ALL for staying visible and keeping ALL residents of the District of Columbia informed and updated throughout this week.

Let's hope everyone came through safe and sound. We can be very proud of our great city, and its professional PD of uncommonly dedicated people who are integral to making it so.
