      TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Janney 5K Fun Run  and Jingle All the Way 8K

       

      (Washington, DC) – The Metropolitan Police Department would like to inform the public and members of the media about street closures in connection with the Janney 5K Fun Run and Jingle All the Way 8K scheduled for Saturday, December 7, 2013 and Sunday, December 8, 2013, respectively.

       

      Janney 5K Fun Run

      The event is scheduled for Saturday, December 7, 2013.  The streets will be closed from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm. The staging area will be on Albemarle Street, NW between Wisconsin Avenue, NW and 42nd Street, NW

       

       

      Race Route

      The Race start time will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at which time the roadways mentioned below will be closed to traffic.

       

      • West on Albemarle Street, NW towards 42nd Street, NW
      • South on 42nd Street, NW to Van Ness Street, NW
      • West on Van Ness Street, NW to 46th Street, NW
      • North on 46th Street, NW to Albemarle Street, NW
      • West on Albemarle Street, NW  to the 4900 block of Albemarle Street, NW then turn around
      • East on Albemarle Street, NW  to 46th Street, NW
      • South on 46th Street, NW to  Van Ness Street, NW
      • East on Van Ness Street, NW to 42nd Street, NW
      • North on 42nd Street, NW to Yuma Street, NW
      • East on Yuma Street, NW to the finish line in the rear of the school

      Jingle All the Way 8K

      The event is scheduled for Sunday, December 8, 2013. The following streets will be closed from 4:00 am to 12:00 pm: 

       

      ·         13th Street, NW from E Street, NW to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

      ·         Pennsylvania Avenue, NW from 14th Street, NW to 12th Street, NW

       

       

      Race Route

      The run will form on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 12th and 13th Street, NW and proceed over the following route:

       

      • East on Pennsylvania Avenue  to Constitution Avenue, NW
      • East on Constitution Avenue to Louisiana Avenue, NW
      • Northeast on Louisiana Avenue, NW to D Street, NW
      • East on D Street, NW to Delaware Avenue, NW
      • North on 1st Street, NW to Columbus Circle, NW
      • U-turn at Columbus Circle, NW
      • South on First Street to the parking lot
      • U-Turn at the parking lot
      • North on 1st Street, NW to D Street, NW
      • West on D Street, NW to Louisiana Avenue, NW
      • West on Louisiana Avenue, NW to Constitution Avenue, NW
      • West on Constitution Avenue, NW to 3rd Street, NW
      • South on 3rd Street, NW to Independence Avenue, SW
      • East on Independence Avenue, SW to Washington Avenue, SW
      • Southeast on Washington Avenue, SW to 2nd Street, SW
      • South on 2nd Street, SW  to E Street, SW
      • West on E Street, SW to 3rd Street, SW
      • North on 3rd Street, SW to Independence Avenue, SW
      • West on Independence Avenue, SW to 7th Street, SW
      • U-Turn prior to 7th Street, SW

      All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.

       

      Motorists could encounter possible delays if operating in the vicinity of this event and may wish to consider alternative routes.  The Metropolitan Police Department and the D.C. Department of Transportation also wish to remind motorists in the vicinity of this event to proceed with caution as increased pedestrian traffic can be anticipated.
