The first Pelicans landed off Westbank Park today.  It continues to be the spot to see goldeneye - both common and good numbers of Barrow's (20 or 30 isn't unusual).  This week there have been Lesser Scaup, Redhead, Ring-necked Duck, Northern Shovelers, and on Sunday about 90 Pintails stopped for a rest.  Tonight all the California Gulls seemed to be paired up, last night there was some breeding going on.  It really isn't that early in the season.
