      Mistake in last post.
The line on Ruddy ducks should read "The only things that increased was 700 Ruddy Ducks compared to 400 last week,"

Hi All, (April 15, 2014 Report)

The weather was cold today, with strong winds and light rain, with a temperature of 42 - 44 F.  This week there were 21,500 individuals with 55 species, compared to 11,500 and 50 species last week.

I added the following species to the year list for the WMA; (3) Horned Grebe, (1) Eared Grebe, (4) Black-necked Stilt, (10) American Avocet (2) Mountain Chickadee and (1) Red-breasted Merganser.

Total number of species seen at the WMA in 2014 is now 77 species.

Spring “staging” continues in decline.  There were 650 American Wigeon compared to 1,500 last week, 125 Mallards compared to 350 last week, 1,025 Northern Shovelers compared to 2,500 last week, 7 Northern Pintails compared to 2,000 last week, 850 Canvasback compared to 2,000 last week, and 400 Common Goldeneye, compared to 700 last week.  The only thing that increased was 700 Ruddy Ducks compared to 4,100 last week and 16,200 American Coots compared to 4,000 last week. Coots made up 75% of all individuals.

There were 95 Snow Geese, 2 Ross’s Goose, 61 Double-crested Cormorants and 67 Greater Sandhill Cranes.
