17689Bridger Mountains raptor migration update (23 Oct)
- Oct 23, 2013Hello MOB.
The spate of pleasant weather has been associated with some good raptor flights in the Bridgers this last week or so. Nearly 600 birds have been counted by the Hawkwatch / MT Audubon observers since the 15th, mostly (~475) golden eagles. There has also been an influx of rough-legged hawks and bald eagles. Other notable non-raptors seen from the ridge include several common loons, flocks of cedar waxwings and gray-crowned rosy finches, and groups of pine grosbeaks.
The total raptor count for the season is at 2,128. Good weather means more good eagle days are likely this week.
