Haunted House Volunteer Outing-Saturday, Oct. 26th, 6-10 PM

The Hopkins Area  Jaycees will be volunteering at the Dungeons of Darkness and Doom Haunted House on Saturday, Oct. 26th, from 6-10 pm.  For those who may not know, the Hopkins Area Jaycees have been partnering with Dave Barnhill of Evilhill Productions for the last 8 or so years, in the promotion and volunteer manpower for the Dungeons and Darkness of Doom Haunted House.

Dave Barnhill had approached the Jaycees asking for manpower back when he was looking for partnerships.  Since opening and operating the haunted house depends heavily on finding available abandoned retail space and willing landlords, the arrangements for the house are usually last minute and in some years, non-existent.  I’m happy to pass along the word that a site has been secured and the haunted house will happen this year.

The Haunted House is actually in a 30,000ft2 contained dome in Long Lake, MN.  The address is 2465 West Wayzata Blvd, Long Lake, MN  55356. Visitors are guided into over 20 rooms of mayhem inside what was once the 10 Sports Dome.  Each room reveals and unfolds before your disbelieving eyes another member of the Evilhill Family.  Theirs is a tragic tale of high drama, epic jealousy, the eternal quest for immortality and parental love.  The Dungeons is a thing of artistic and theatrical beauty. To all the fans and supporters of the Dungeons, you can look forward to a carnage filled, theatrical tour through monstrous madness and thrilling terror.  There will also be a 18 Hole Terror Putt Course and a Twisted Maze for the brave and daring.

The dates of the haunted house are the following:  Oct. 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, 19, 25, 26, 27, and 31.  The Hopkins Mainstreet School of Performing Arts students do all of the acting in the house and the volunteers help with selling tickets, collecting food donations, man the exit doors and provide assistance throughout the house (guardian angels).  In prior years, the Jaycees would commit to every night that the house was open.  This year, we are committing to only Oct 26th, due to a smaller pool of volunteers to pull from.  But please don’t let that stop you if you want to help out on any of the other nights the house is open.  Please contact Matt Weinacht at 612-599-2798 or Dave Barnhill at 612-414-5345 if you would like to help out any day(s) other than Oct. 26th.

Please meet at the Hopkins Jaycees hall at 5:45 PM  on Oct. 26th if you would like to help out and we will carpool over to the site.  If you have any questions or concerns, please give me a call at 952-200-4485.

      Thanks
