Even though we (Dynasoarers) allowed beach launching at the Fairhaven dunes (MadMax's) as there is no dune damage when correctly performed.
The events on the Saturday the 17th November has shown that beach only launching is not always the case.
The indefensible occurred.
Climbing into the dunes for the purpose of launching was observed by other pilots (and reported to the Dynasoarers) but also by the general public and GORCC rangers (who also (rightly) contacted us).
It was also observed that there was a TOTAL disregard for the Hoodie nest nearby (There were signs indicating such).
Hence forth the Fairhaven sand dunes (from Painkalac creek to eastern view) are off limits for the purpose of launching for ALL Paragliders and Hang gliders.
This means NO beach launching also.
The only Launch site available is Spion.

Please also note that ALL sand dunes are off limits except at designated location such as 13th beach (40W please see site guide for details).Trespassing in the dunes is not, I repeat NOT allowed.
