Group Description

We embrace healthy fats and shun carbs.

I'm Dave, your host. My "Before and After" photos are at the right.

You eat fat, you can get thin. The studies that led to the low fat fad were cherry picked, and ignored decades of contrary clinical evidence.

By low carb we mean carbs below 50 per day. By high fat we mean higher than 60% fat by calories. Dr. Taller recomended: Carbs 5%, Protein 30%, Fat 65%

Those doing any of these diets should feel right at home here: Atkins, The Optimal Diet (from Poland), Dr. Herman Taller's, Barry Groves', Bruce Fife's, or "Banting." If Gary Taubes had a diet, as such, we would include it.

In addition to those losing weight, we have members working to "maintain" after weightloss, and normal weight folks who are seeking the best way of eating for health.

Opinion: High refined carbohydrates kill.

In the debate about good carbs vs. bad carbs many here feel that all carbs are bad -but not everyone. Many report that very very low carbs leads to reduction of appetite. This reduced appetite allows portion control without issues of willpower or enduring hunger.

We do NOT do "CKD" or "carb cycle" like muscle builders, nor do weekly carb "refeeds," "Oasis," or "cheat days." Falling off the wagon is OK.
