Administrative Assistant Part-Time
Staff one-person office in South Loop, $8/hr.
The Independent Voters of Illinois-Independent Precinct Organization
is a 60 year old civic group fighting for electoral reform and
social and economic justice. It is a membership organization
governed by a 40-member Board of Directors and 9-member Steering
Committee. The AA will work under the supervision of and report to
the State Chair.
Requirements: Self-starter, willing and able to work alone with
minimal supervision. Strong verbal and written communication
skills, well organized and computer literate. Proficient in
Microsoft Office and Quicken. Knowledge of desktop publishing and
HTML a plus. Women and people of color encouraged to apply.
Maintain member and prospecting databases in Microsoft Access.
Generate lists and labels for mailings. Enter receipts and
expenditures in Quicken and generate reports for Board and Steering
Open and sort mail, retrieve voice and email, respond as required or
direct to appropriate officer. Keep organization calendar, plan and
prepare mailings for member meetings. Send notice of Board meetings
and make reminder calls to Board members. Create correspondence in
Microsoft Word. Maintain contact as needed with landlord, vendors
and other outside entities.
Organize and maintain electronic and hard copy files as required.
Recruit and supervise volunteers, supervise and evaluate interns.
Provide staff support as needed for Board meetings, press
conferences, fundraisers and other organization functions. This
work requires some evening and/or weekend hours.
