Subject: Loadmasters Group Troop Carrier/Tactical Airlift Association - Invitation to Join
If you received this Email, it is because you are someone I recognize from my address book as having some kind of association with the Army Air Forces and US Air Force troop carrier mission and it’s tactical airlift successors. Several troop carrier/tactical airlift veterans recently formed the Troop Carrier/Tactical Airlift Association and we are inviting you to join. Everyone who joins between now and the end of the year will be considered a charter member.
The purpose of the organization is to promote camaraderie among veterans of the mission and to preserve the rich heritage of the mission and educate the public as to what troop carrier and tactical airlift units did from World War II through Vietnam and what our lineal successors have been doing since and are doing today and will be doing in the future. We had our second gathering in Galveston, Texas over Veterans Day Weekend and current plans are to have annual events on Galveston Island in the future. There were some 90 veterans, spouses and guests present for the three-day event, which included a reception at the Lone Star Flight Museum on Thursday evening, a buffet dinner at the same location on Friday evening and a specially prepared Texas Barbecue at the hotel on Saturday. Col. Billie Mills, a longtime troop carrier and tactical airlifter whose career began during the Berlin Airlift and continued through the Vietnam War was our speaker.
We elected our first slate of officers and board members to lead us into the future. Names and biographies are posted on the web site at www.airlifthomecomi ng.com
. We are looking forward to a long and successful history as we grow and welcome younger tactical/combat airlift veterans into our ranks.
