Group Description

Livable Rochester is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making Rochester a safer, healthier and more vibrant community by design. We began our journey toward a more livable community in June 2005, when a small, diverse group of committed citizens gathered in Historic Southeast Slatterly Park Neighborhood to discuss the future challenges facing this community. Livable Rochester grew out of that initial inspired meeting. We hope you will join us in our efforts to make Rochester become more livable as it grows.

Primary Value: Cities designed for people.

Vision: A compact, diverse and walkable community that is safer, healthier and more vibrant by design.

Mission: To inspire and support community partnerships that enhance livability as Rochester grows and develops.

Core Principles:

1) Safe and convenient neighborhoods with homes people can afford.

2) Cohesive urban design that reflects the full diversity of human needs.

3) Preservation of our built heritage and farm land.

4) Investments that coordinate transportation, land use and conservation.

5) Development that is environmentally sustainable and economically viable.
