If anyone has a functionning development platform for the LS and is
interested in getting slimserver6 running, you can actually download
the files from my own personal repository. This account has limited
traffic allowance so please don't all download the files at the same
time (and only do it if you are able to compile the modules,
alright?) otherwise I'll be forced to take them down... ;-)

Total file size is about 2MB.

In the meantime, I'll start setting up my PC with cygwin and a cross-
      compiler...

Seems there is no need to compile anything (if I read correctly).
Only Perl modules to copy in the right place...

I'll be trying it myself pretty soon. Let's see how this goes.

          Hi Daniel,

You had it right the first time :-) The modules do need to be compiled.
          See discussion here:

          http://lists.slimdevices.com/archives/discuss/2005-February/043986.html

At Slim's request, I filed a bug, here:

          http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1012

Slim provided the source tarballs for the modules (which you can get at
CPAN anyway) and asked that we compile them (they probably realized it
would be a nightmare to provide binaries for every platform). I'm having
trouble getting the modules to compile, but I'm not sure why. I'm guessing
it's a problem with the way I set up the dev tools on my LinkStation. I
mailed Sam off-list for some help (he may have especially helpful insight
since he's the guy who compiled the Perl 5.8.5 LinkStation binaries).

Anyway, once we get these modules compiled for LinkStation, SlimServer 6
          should work for us!
