      Regarding auto summarize ... what you'll notice from your own tests is
      that the highlighted points, and the summary itself, are created via a
      percentage-based assessment of key word relevance to a certain 'main
      theme'. It is mechanical, and fails to achieve any degree of
      acceptability for much the same reason that the spell-checker can only
      suggest words that have one letter out of place.

      I haven't used it in class but your email prompts one thought ... it
      could be used with higher level students to 'prove' or at least
      demonstrate that meaning in language is more complex than the EFL
      dictionary, (and certainly a translating dictionary) would suggest.
      You could devise an exercise and try it ... you might get some
      interesting results.
