This session starts with foregrounding the value of teacher cooperation for
self-development in ICT by explaining ways in which teachers can invest in
the social element of their professional environments. Webinar participants
are invited to reflect on their experiences and contribute with ideas for
enhancing teacher cooperation for more effective technology use. The
session then presents Cooperative Development (Edge 1992, 2002, 2008) as a
discourse framework for collegial self-development in ICT and invites
teachers to try it in their own contexts.
Mariam's background lies in teaching Arabic to speakers of other languages.
Her professional interests cover the areas of language teacher education,
computer-assisted language learning, and researcher education. She
completed her PhD in 2011 in which she explored language teachers'
pedagogical beliefs about using ICT. She is currently a Research Assistant
on the AHRC-funded project Researching Multilingually, Durham University.
