Hi everyone. Here's a question which may be a nobrainer, but it goes beyond my limited expertise.

I'm looking for a webinar type platform that:
can be hosted on a private computer (ie does not need institutional support)

      allows interactive chat

lets you show docs (slides/chats/graphics/text docs, etc.

lets you show video image of hosts

allows hosts to monitor participants contributions

shows list of those logged in (maybe with private IM)

allows playback of pre-recorded audio and video

allow patching in of telephone call or other external audio input

      is reliable

is reasonably easy to use for non techie users, even the hosting

      is low cost or free

This is for private (non-institutional) use, and a reasonable degree of security will make users a little more comfortable in adopting it.

Any suggestions will be very gratefully accepted.

      Thanks

      Martin

              Hi, Martin,

I´ve used WIZIQ, a free platform for live educational webinars, very user-friendly http://www.wiziq.com/contact/. It used to be free but I´ve just seen it goes on being free only for educators, you need to contact them.

Hope it helps, greetings from Rosario, Argentina,

                  Hi Martin,

I agree with Dr Nellie Deutsch that WizIQ is what you need

I am not sure about patching in a phone call but it can do all the rest.

An alternative to WiziQ is Vyew which allows you to keep the class set up
                  and reuse it

No recording for either in the unpaid/free version

                  Kind Regards

                  Marisa

I agree, Robber. I just tried it, and it looks like a useful tool for e.g. giving presentations as well as for having fun with. Best to make the most of it

Apologies for not replying to thank the people who posted on this topic - I have been on the road and getting to a computer has been problematic.

I'll look into all these suggestions, for which thanks. Previously I was doing this with the help of a local radio station that transmitted through the Internet and a moderated Chatango board to which the broadcasters and listeners had access. This enabled us to patch in phone calls, etc.

Relations with the radio station have 'changed', and we're looking for an alternative - hence my posting.

                        Regards
