Circumcision/Social evolution/Rise of man
- by: Imam W Deen MohammedCircumcision is symbolic of the social evolution and rise of manAl Quran 23.12-14 Man is created from sperm to another creationImam WD Mohammed " ...It is a ritual, understand that a ritual among other people not just you, other people had it too and it is also a ritual accepted by Al Islam, in fact it was practiced by people before Al Islam or before the Muslim community of Mohammed the Prophet (saw). If you remember years ago when I was called Chief Minister on Stoney Island Ave. in Chicago I spoke at length on circumcision. Now I'll make my comment, the weak grass it grows up and doesn't give us a big tree or something, just a little grass. And it grows up and it doesn't give us corn, but what it gives you to eat like corn is it's seed. It gives you to eat it's potential for life and development, it shares it with you. Now the male organ is symbolic of the organ that gives us the seed of life. And skin covering it means not revealing it, but cutting it off for practical purposes is good hygiene, etc., but it's higher message is that we should have all our males striped of the mind that wants to cover the reality of life for human beings. And that life is not only in this message of flesh but it is also mainly intellectual because if you read Al Qur'an it is not talking about the birth of a flesh body when it says that He created you from a milky or cloudy water like substance and made if form into blood and then other stages until it became a complete man or human being in body. It is not talking about flesh, it is talking about your intellect, how your intellect is born milky and faulty and how it takes on social interest and becomes red, social. And how is develops after that to be structured logically, having bones to rise and know the logic. Then it clothes itself with flesh, that it is talking about the social rise of man, so that is how we should understand circumcision.Take away that which is blocking the perception of what is giving this and when you take away the outer skin you have a more sensitive skin, don't you. So we want to see the sensitive beginning of that life, not something that is less sensitive. But when you think about it also in the practical sense it is a bit cruel to have a child covered like that, so in the practical world sense it is a good thing to do. Would you believe that I was born without that problem? That is what my mother told me, she said, " Son we never had circumcised you, you didn't need it, the doctor told us you didn't need it. Another sign from G'd, scripture says "and no knife will be put to him."- This is the Bible."
