Meaning Of Shirk - “Will Christians Go To Paradise”
By Imam W Deen Mohammed (raa)
What is the meaning of Allah forgive not the sin of Shirk?
Imam WD Mohammed:
Yes! Allah says in the qur’an, Prophet Muhammed has taught us Allah forgives all sins except one, and that is Shirk.
Shirk means to make something else a competitor with Allah. You got something else that you have in competition with Allah. Your wife can become a shirk. Your baby can become the shirk. Your business can become the Shirk. It doesn’t have to be an idol gd from paganism, from heathenism. It doesn’t have to be the Trinitarianism concept of Christianity. No! When you give your inclinations to something and that something make you bargain away your obedience to Gd for the sake of that thing, and that thing has become an associate gd with Allah. It has become Shirk and Allah does not forgive that.
What does it mean that He does not forgive it? You are going to be punish for that, you are going to be punish for that. No, no. You won’t be forgiven for that you are going to be punished. Why? Because Allah has not put it in our nature, whether we come up in China or somewhere else, Allah has not put it in our nature - as Allah says, “He has not created any human being with two hearts”; He has not put it in our nature to be hypocrites, to give our devotion to one thing and to another thing and they are waring against each other. No - means that you are going to pay for that, you suffer you get punished for that. That will make you loose your human nature, it will make you loose your human soul.
But understand this, what you do in ignorance is not charged against you. So if in ignorance you have believed in Gd the Father, the Son and Holy Ghost; once knowledge comes to you then you are punished for what you do knowingly. You are not punished for what you did in ignorance. Thats what you have to understand too. And Allah says in the qur’an; and I find it to be such a cooling and a soothing thing for the soul. Allah says in this qur’an whoever holds to “la illaha illallah”, whoever holds to this - “that there is one Allah”. No matter what kind of problems they have, eventually that will deliver their soul from hell and torment.
If you just hold to that, that there is a gd. There is a gd. There is a creator. There is a creator and He deserves my obedience. If you hold to that, you might worship Him as a tree. You might think He is a stone. You might think He is brother John. But if your intentions are sincere and you believe that thats’ Gd, Allah will eventually show you that brother John is nothing, this is not Allah. He will show you that the stone is not Allah. He will bring you to the truth if you just hold that in your heart and be sincere - “I know that there is a gd, I know there is a creator. I don’t know how He looks or I think He’s this.” Go on and think that until you learn better. Allah is not going to bother you, is not going to punish you for what you do in ignorance. He is going to punish you for what you do knowingly. And if you remain sincere to your creator He will eventually bring you to the proper light. Awe yes! But don’t turn away from guidance when it come. Yes, and guidance has come. There is no excuse for us.
But I’m saying this so you won’t feel too bad about your Christian relatives. There are some of them believe sincerely that Jesus is Gd, Jesus is the son of Gd. Jesus is the savior, he’s the son of Gd. And they believe that, there are preachers who believe that. They are sincere and they might be a relative of yours. If they are sincere in believing that Gd Almighty is Gd, that there is a Gd. They might conceive Him wrongly but if they are innocent don’t worry Allah will eventually bring them into the right understanding.
Did Allah say in the qur’an, did Allah say in the qur’an that a christian if he believes that Jesus is the son of Gd he will not go to heaven? No! Allah said in the qur’an whether they be Christian, Jews, Sabians or others - whoever believes in Allah. It didn’t say whoever believe in Allah and disassociate Jesus as a son of Gd. It said whoever believes in Allah. Don’t the Christians says they believe in Allah? Yes. Whoever believes in Allah and believes in His prophets; believe in His books and in His prophets and they are the doers of good, they have their reward with their Gd, there is no fear for them nor shall they grieve. Yes. And in another place Allah says in the qur’an, whoever believes in Allah and is a doer of good their reward is with Allah, there is no fear for them nor shall they grieve. So we have to understand that. People are not charged with what they don’t understand they are charged with what they do knowingly against Gd.
“Oh brother Imam you know no christians ain’t going to heaven believing in Gd the Father, the Son, the Holy Ghost?” Yes they are they are gone. Many of them are gone. Yes!
Allah says in the qur’an, “if He had wanted to make people all one community He would have done so”. He had the power to make us all Muslims. He said “He would have done so.” And in another place it says this (in many places it says - pardon me making a correction), it says that “in the end Gd will show you wherein you differed”. Is that right?
So Allah will settle these final questions for us in the Judgment. Allah will settle the question. Though you christians you were sincere you thought Jesus was the son of Gd, you thought this, yes. Now Gd will correct all of this. What, will the christian be denied? No. Christians can come into paradise if he’s sincere. He won’t come into paradise if he is not sincere. If the Christian is sincere they will get into paradise and once they get into paradise, when Gd show them what you understood about Jesus is wrong. Gd is telling us that there is some things that human beings can’t do, you can’t correct all problems. You can’t put faith in people. That’s Allah’s job. You can only work in the path and do what you are assigned to do. You have no power to bring people to faith - Allah has the power to do that. And there are some people go on innocently in the wrong but being sincere and they will be admitted to paradise and Gd then will show them that, “what you have come to me with is not accepted”.
Now if a soul has been sincere and once they come before Gd and Gd show them, don’t you know they will accept what Gd show them? So Gd is telling us that there are some people that are so sincere in what they are doing human beings can’t reach them; but He can reach them. He’s not going to disallow them. He is going to admit them into the paradise, and He will reach them and His own good time.
Great Gd Almighty I want to shout. We carry to much burden on us, to much burden on us.
