Subject: Invitation to the NM Livability Connection forum

1000 Friends of New Mexico invites you
to become a participant in the community web forum called
      NM Livability Connection.

Click on the link at the top of the right hand column.

      What the Livability Connection is
The Livability Connection is much more than a blog and much more vigorous than a list serve.  It is the product of a series of meetings convened by 1000 Friends of New Mexico with a number of organizations working on the range of smart growth issues in New Mexico.  The Livability Connection encourages lively discussions on topics including planning, land use, transportation, water, homes and neighborhoods, cultural heritage, economic vitality, environment, and social justice.

What makes the Livability Connection unique
The Livability Connection is an online bulletin board with added functions. It's a convenient, one-stop location where people can post articles, start public discussions, send direct email, and use instant messages.  In short, it's a great place to grow an online community. In addition, there are many advanced features, such as the ability to do online polling with real time results and post to a community calendar.  You can participate at different levels, so that, if your organization has messages meant only for your membership, they can be limited to that group. On the other end of the spectrum, it allows for the sharing of information across subject areas.  Just because a participant is interested in water doesn't mean that he/she might not also be interested in transportation.

      Current plan
Currently we plan to email participants a brief weekly listing of the most visited posts for the week.  Other than that, participation is on an opt-in basis.

We have attempted to make the use of this forum as simple as possible.  To that end, the very first posting you see when you go to the site, is Start here!  Should you experience any difficulties using the site, please let us know, so that we may assist you.

We hope you will find using NM Livability Connection helpful.  If you have suggestions, please let us know.

      Patricia Channon
      Chief Operations Officer
      1000 Friends of New Mexico.
