Sa Mar 23 8a-4:30pm Francophile Marketing SIG Free Camp
The sixth annual Silicon Valley Product Camp is here!
Please join us along with your fellow product managers and product
marketing managers, for a great Saturday of interactive discussions,
innovative talks and panels, fantastic networking, food, t-shirts,
surprises...and, of course, FUN. Under the leadership of the SVPMA,
and with our sponsors' generosity, we expect more than 600 participants.
      What is Product Camp?
Product Camps (known as "P-camps") are the world's largest, free and
self-organizing get-togethers of product / product marketing managers,
where everyone contributes to the event, including voting on what
topics are presented. These are one-day gatherings to share, network,
learn, laugh and discuss. The morning's agenda will be voted on in
advance, and the afternoon's agenda will be created collaboratively by
the attendees on the day of the event.
Bring ideas for discussions that you want to participate in!
Cost: FREE! Includes lunch (yes, there is such a thing as a free
      lunch!) and a P-Camp t-shirt
      To register, visit: http://productcampsiliconvalley.org
Register only if you intend to come. Only the first 1,000 people will be
pre-registered for priority check-in; everyone else will be handled as
a walk-in and will only receive sponsor giveaways if available. You
will be able to access the post-camp website for session notes even if
      you don't register.
Topics can be submitted starting now at:
      http://www.productcampsiliconvalley.org/submit-your-talk/
We are interested in getting a wide variety of speakers. The more interactive
your topic, the better! No one likes canned speeches! If you have "real
life" lessons learned or cool ways of doing things that get results -
throw your topic "hat" in the ring! We want to hear from you.
      vote for your favorite topics.

`When Science Meets Data: Three Stories from the Field'
      6:30 pm Networking, Snacks
      7:00 pm Announcements
      7:10 pm Presentation and Q&A
Data has become a key adjective for Science today. Availability of new kinds of
data at scale has influenced not only how algorithms are implemented or systems are
built but even how science is done. In this talk speaker will talk about experiences
from 3 different areas where big data has made science possible in ways not possible
before. The three cases are from Search, Computer Vision, and Economics. In
Search speaker discuss how we address the problem of search recall for rare
queries at internet scale. In Computer Vision speaker will talk about how creative and
Systematic understanding of large scale image data is used to build scalable
vision-based commerce applications. In Economics we show how presence of
a large scale user base in a vibrant marketplace creates opportunities for
      studying
naturally occurring experiments which can be used to get a better economic
understanding of marketplace polices and design decisions.
