      Le lycée Français La Pérouse organise une conférence, gratuite,
      le lundi 18 octobre 2010 à 17h30 sur le thème :
      "La Pérouse à la recherche du passage du Nord-Ouest le long de la côte de
      l'Alaska, du Canada et des États-Unis. Exploration ordonnée en 1785 par
      le Roi de France Louis XVI."
      La conférence sera présentée par M. Jérôme GERVAIS, Administrateur des
      Amis du Musée national de la Marine à Paris et retracera l'expérience
      humaine et scientifique que cette aventure a constituée.
      Les aspects suivants seront développés :
      - L'historique de la recherche du passage du Nord-Ouest
      - La préparation de l'expédition
      - L'exploration de l'Alaska
      - L'épisode de Port des Français
      - La suite de l'expédition et le naufrage
      - La descente le long de la côte nord-américaine jusqu'à Monterey
      - Conclusions sur l'intérêt de cette expédition.
      Des documents exceptionnels en provenance des archives
      nationales françaises illustreront cette conférence.

      Congo Awareness Week: Breaking the Silence
      A week dedicated to bringing awareness to the injustices in the Democratic
      Republic of Congo. The week will feature the rich music and dance from
      the region, discussions about the culture and historic as well as current
      atrocities, and a keynote address by Congolese researcher Kasereka Kasomo
      on Thursday, October 21st in Eng. 189 from 5-7pm.

      AN EVENING OF CONTEMPORARY FRENCH THEATER
      You are invited to an evening of French play readings at the Arts Pavilion.
      Students, teachers, staff members, outside French-speaking companies
      (notably, Platypus Theater) and professional artists will be reading and
      performing extracts of new French plays by major contemporary writers.
      This friendly, community-oriented evening is free and open to all interested
      in discovering some new voices in French contemporary theater. It will start
      at 6:30 with light refreshments in the lobby, then move into the theater for
      readings at 7pm.
