      Mo-Tu June 4-5 Maryse Condé Visit SIG
      Maryse Condé speaks in Palo Alto. Stanford's Department of French
      and Italian and Program in Modern Thought and Literature are proud
      to present Maryse Condé author of Traversée de la Mangrove, Ségou,
      Moi, Tituba..., and many other works; winner of the "Prix de
      l'Académie française" (1988), "Prix Marguerite Yourcenar" (1999),
      and most recently (2007) the Prix Tropiques for her new book
      Victoire, les saveurs et les mots; professor emeritus at Columbia
      University.
      Professor Condé will give a lecture entitled "Images de l'Afrique de
      Ségou à L'Histoire de la Femme Cannibale"
      Monday, June 4, 6 p.m.

      followed by a book signing: "The Story of the Cannibal Woman";
      "Who Slashed Celanire's Throat?"
