Group Description

This Group is dedicated to discussing the methods, merits and pitfalls of converting Classic Meade telescopes and mounts, to the modern, Autostar controls.

Membership approval is required.

All Meade parts in the kit are USED products, unless otherwise stated. All are well tested and generally in "like new" condition.

FAQ's about the Autostar Upgrade Kit

Q. How much does it cost and what's included?
A. The kit comes with a used Autostar-495/497 handset, a new front panel, and DEC and Autostar cables. I can provide the kit with a NEW Audiostar, instead of an Autostar, ready to go, for an additional $130.00. The Deluxe Kit is $520.00 and the Super Deluxe Kit is $740.00, which includes a Power Supply, GPS, and USB Adapter.

CONUS shipping is included. All prices are in US Dollars.
Additional shipping costs apply to International shipments.

Q. My telescope has problems. What if the kit doesn't work?
A. I provide a FREE motor evaluation/tune-up with the purchase of a kit and GUARANTEE the system will work on arrival. Minor repairs included.

Q. Do you accept credit cards?
A. I charge a flat fee of $15.00 for PayPal or 4% for a credit card over the phone.

Q. Can I use my existing Meade Power source?
A. The kit requires 10vdc to 16vdc of regulated power. The original Meade PSU's do not meet that requirement.
* I can provide an appropriate power supply for an additional $25.00

Q. What about my CCD input, focuser and reticle; Can I still control those?

Q. How long does it take to get one?
A. Most kits ship within 48 hours of receipt of funds. Worst case it can take one week before shipping the kit.

A. Check out the files and links section first. Or you can contact me directly at engsupt@aol.com or by calling 760-DUDASH1 (760)383-2741
