      COMMUNITY ALERT
      NOTIFICATION

      LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT

      SLO D. Melkonian (213) 793-0781 31366@...

      Community Warning
Please be aware that there has been an increase in Residential Burglaries for the Olympic Area.
Suspect posing as plumbers to gain entry to your residence
The two males Hispanics recently approached residents and identified themselves as plumbers to gain entry into homes. While one of the suspects distracts the resident, the other steals items from the home.
      Suspect Description:
Suspect's knocked on the front door. When the door was answered, the two men claimed that they plumbers to work on the home. The suspects are then permitted entry into the residence

Unfortunately, suspects prey upon the good nature of our residents, especially seniors, and we see this type of crime increase in hard economic times.

Do not allow any individual claiming to be workers into your home unless you have called the company and requested service.

In addition, to posing as census employee, utility workers or a repairman suspects often attempt to lure a resident out of the house long enough for an accomplice to enter unnoticed and steal valuables.

If you are approached by person(s) identifying themselves as plumbers, especially if you did not place a request for work, ask for identification. If you feel uneasy about them, do not open your door or permit entry into your residence. Call for police assistance. Police officers will be able to verify their identities.
