Highland Water Main Break

UPDATE ON LADWP WATER MAIN BREAK IN HOLLYWOOD AREA SUNSET & HIGHLAND Thursday, September 3, 9:00 AM
A leak occurred in an 8-inch water main September 3 at @ 3:00 AM near 1418 North Highland Avenue just south of Sunset Boulevard. Major street damage resulted in temporary closure of all three southbound traffic lanes on Highland Avenue between Sunset and De Longpre Ave.
Two lanes each, both southbound and northbound on Highland , will be opened some time between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM this morning. Department of Transportation has staff on site temporarily diverting traffic east and west on Sunset and providing traffic control.
No property damage was reported and no boil-water notice issued. The street damage is described as approximately 200 square feet in size.
Initially five commercial water services were reported to be affected but currently only one, a nursery on Highland , is without service. Water service was restored to the other affected customers via a nearby 12-inch main.
Estimated time of complete repair and street restoration is between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM this evening.
This update is being provided to the Council District 4 and 13 offices as well as the Hollywood area Neighborhood Councils.
