LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A woman was shot in the leg today during an
attempted robbery in the Windsor Square area, and police were searching for the
      gunman.
The shooting occurred about 6:45 a.m. in the 4500 block of West Fourth
Street, said Officer Cleon Joseph of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media
      Relations office.
Paramedics took the woman to a hospital, where she was listed in stable
condition, said LAPD Sgt. Ed Clark of the Olympic Station.
The woman was walking to her parked car when she was confronted by the
man, who demanded her property, Clark said. She resisted, and he shot her and
      fled without taking any property.
The suspect was initially described as a man weighing about 175 pounds
and wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans. However, police later received
      conflicting descriptions of the suspect.
Anyone with information was asked to call the LAPD's Olympic Station at
      (213) 382-9102. All tips can be made anonymously.
