      Since you're running RedHat, type the following into a command prompt:

      rpm -qa | grep perl-5

      If you get any results, then you have the perl package installed. If
      not, serch your RPMS directories on your install CDs for perl-5*.rpm and
      install it as root using

      rpm -Uvh package_name.rpm
