Group Description

LACoBirds is for discussion of wild birds and birdwatching in Los Angeles Co., CA. Suggested topics are bird sightings, status and distribution, birding locations, and non-commercial announcements from birding organizations. You are welcome to use the Photos area to share photos to discuss identification, and the Files area to share other relevant information.

Banned topics are pet birds, virus warnings, commercial announcements or ads, and anything not related to birdwatching in Los Angeles County. One-time reports of ABA class 4+ birds or other CA rarities anywhere in SoCal are welcome.

A signature is required at the end of every message and must contain your first and last names and your city, state (if not CA), and country (if not USA).

All messages must have an appropriate subject in their Subject field. This allows for workable searching of the archives in the future, and the ability to follow a thread. Messages without a subject will be removed from the archives and anyone posting such a message, including responses, will have their posts moderated. This means that a listowner must approve each message before it goes out to the group. Many email programs have a feature that warns you if you are about to send a message with no Subject. If yours has this feature, turn it on. Otherwise, type your Subject before starting to type your message.

Each new member is placed on moderated status until the moderators can be sure the person isn't joining to post SPAM. Usually, members are removed from moderated status after their first post.

All messages and files posted to this list or its web site, whether explicitly marked or not, should be considered to be copyrighted by the author.
