      This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for June 19.

       

      A handful SPOTTED DOVES persist at Salt Lake Park in Huntington Park.  At least seven birds were in the neighborhood just north of the park on June 16.  Other SPOTTED DOVES were seen recently at Augustus Hawkins Natural Park in south central LA and at Washington Park just south of there.

       

      Rare on San Clemente Island was a LESSER NIGHTHAWK on June 16.

       

      A HAIRY WOODPECKER was at Limekiln Canyon Park on June 16.

       

      Continuing at the Ballona Wetlands was a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE reported through June 15.

       

      An OVENBIRD was in the rose garden at Banning Park in Wilmington on June 17.

       

      Quite unusual at this time of year was a WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW at a residence in Pacific Palisades from June 15-17.
