Are you sure you have it installed correctly? Even if the Object file is not loaded, the ROM should show up in global. (at least, it did on my PC2.)
The Operating System must be updated to version 4.00 (Orchestral ROM alone will work with OS 3.0). After updating the OS (which takes between 20 and 30 minutes to load the files through MIDI), it is then necessary to load the Object files for base ROM, Orchestral ROM, and Vintage ROM. If they are not loaded right, there will not be sounds, because they contain the "hints" to the OS of where the particular sound is loaded in each ROM.
Using Windows, I found that the Windows Media Player (the original one that shipped with XP) would load the file best. Even though you don't hear anything, levels must be right. If I remember correctly (it has been a couple of years since I needed to load my PC2), it was also necessary to change the Sound Routing on the PC so that MIDI was fed instead of feeding the built-in Microsoft General MIDI sound engine.
There were some instructions sent with my ROM, file name is PC2_ROM_User's_Guide.zip. There were things in there I needed to know. Seems like I also got some info from a web site - I probably kept it in the manual that I printed, which is not where I am at the moment.

Date: Friday, January 1, 2010, 4:07 PM
I'm pulling my hair out! I'm trying to install my new classic keys rom but to no avail.. Orch rom is running fine.
when i scroll through global it reads exp1 yes exp2 yes then a few pages down it says Exp2 ver: none. what should this read? what file needs to be loaded to make this happen
I've sent files via DP7 the screen on the unit seems react to the file. but nothing no patches are loaded.
I would be appreciate any pointers to help me on my way.
thx in advance
