      Mark,

I have a Mexican friend who has family that lives in Leon Mexico. Leon is about 10 miles from Santa Rosa. I do not know of any Polish people who live in Santa Rosa or Leon.

      Hi Gang,

I recall someone mentioning relations still living in Mexico.  I thought it may be faster asking who it was through this message than to go over all my saved e-mails.

I am looking for assistance in locating my mothers classmate from Santa Rosa who was married and remained in Mexico. My contacts now are with a person in Mexico, but she has no computer contact with me . It is all done over the telephone.

I was wondering if I can forward the details to someone who has a contact in Mexico.

      Sincerely,

      Mark Kusiewicz

Is this now a Polish holiday?

As I understand it, about 75% of the Jews who joined Anders' army deserted
in Palestine - I don't remember how many of them there were, but I think
it was several thousand. Menachem Begin was corporal clerk, and either
deserted or was discharged because of his underground activities in
Palestine.  His biographer states he was discharged, but I've heard other
      versions.

Wladyslaw Anders writes about this little known aspect of WWII history in
his autobiography, but I've been unable to locate a copy.

I gather that Anders himself opposed charging Jewish deserters under
military law, but I don't know what his reasons were.

I've tried to find more info on the matter, but haven't had much luck.

      Cheers,
      Leszek
