Message sent from Eva Szegidewicz, Kresy-Siberia (UK), Manchester:
Merseyside Polonia would like to invite you for a very unique event with two special guests: Mrs. Anna Przylipak participant of the Warsaw Uprising and Katy Carr - performer and songwriter inspired by Polish history.
The event will be held this Saturday, 17th of November 2012 at 2:00 pm at the historic St. George's Hall - attendance free of charge.
If you've ever seen Wajda's "Canal" this time you have a chance to hear the real story. Mrs. Anna Przylipak was born in Poland in wealthy family of landowners. When the war started the farm was occupied by the Germans and she had to move to Warsaw. When the Warsaw Uprising started she got involved as a Communication Officer. Wounded she was forced to withdraw through the sewage system - canals. As participant of the Warsaw Uprising and member of the Home Army she decided for her safety to move to the UK at the end of the war.
The conversation will be followed by an inspirational singing performance by Katy Carr. Katy is a London based singer songwriter born of Polish mother and will present songs from her album "Passport" inspired by stories she has gathered from World War Two veterans from Poland - ? The true heart of Poland?
Come and meet the history that inspires!
