Yesterday 29.5.12 Australian Eastern Standard Time, watched a doco about Hitler invading Poland and Stalin wanting to sign the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.
My understanding of what was said and this is why I am asking group, was that Hitler used Stalin as a pawn when he signed the pact, but was quoted saying that he would always conquer Russian and using Stalin was a controlled step in the ultimate defeat of Russia with Stalin (my words – being the equivalent of a country bumpkin) and that Stalin was actually afraid of Hitler, but needed to bond with the enemy to feel safe. A story was played out, when Ribbentrop visited the Kremlin and raised his hand with HAIL HITLER salute, causing silence and fear, then Stalin held his coat tails on his long jacket and curtsied, causing the room to erupt in laughter. What this doco implied, was that Hitler was always using Stalin and that Stalin was a fool, but a very cruel one. Also because of Stalin’s’ internal cleansing, he was caught short in troop numbers and food supplies. Hitler used Stalin’s’new friendship to fight Finland in winter and even though Russian lost over 200,000 men in battle, they considered it a victory, never admitting the truth of loss or defeat, never showing the film footage to the Russian People. Another false propaganda. Can anyone shed some light on this.
· The Warlord - This second episode focuses on the abilities and successes of Joseph Stalin as a warlord. Stalin liked to project an image of himself as a great military strategist, even calling himself 'generalissimo' and constantly being seen in military uniform, but this program shows that he had no training and no vocation.
